Although email has transformed the communication
chain between customer and supplier, it does not
operate in real time, even with broadband. This can
lead to frustrating delays.
TML has installed its own FTP server for
time-critical projects involving customers and
suppliers across different time zones. This
allows real-time distribution and management of very
large files. Customers and suppliers can send
and receive files to their own password-protected
mailboxes. Unlike email, there is no size limit
on documents, so there is no need to compress
them. As soon as they are deposited on the FTP
server they can be picked up by those with access,
wherever in the world they are.
This enables our project managers to schedule
projects to tighter timelines, and allows our
customers to pick up their translated files without
the delays that can be encountered from the
cyberspace mail service.
